Obi-wan made a Whisky
A long time ago, in a Galaxy Far Far Away…
The Jedi Order has scattered across the galaxy, with many finding refuge in the farthest reaches of forgotten worlds. On the remote island of Arran, Master Obi-Wan Kenobi sought a path of peace and contemplation, choosing the humble art of whisky distillation to connect with the Living Force.
In secret, he crafted a single cask of whisky, infusing the ancient traditions of Arran with the mysticism of the Force. Carefully distilled and laid to rest, the liquid was left in silence, maturing over decades, unseen by the Empire.
Now, 26 years later, Kenobi returns to the rugged shores of Arran. The whisky, having slumbered beneath the stars, is ready to be revealed to the galaxy. The time has come for Kenobi to complete his journey—not as a warrior, but as a master distiller...
With the galaxy teetering on the brink of darkness once more, this whisky holds the key to a new hope, a spark that might unite the scattered spirits of rebellion and offer a taste of peace.
Will Kenobi’s legendary creation rise to the challenge of its maker's legacy? Only time will tell…
I did enjoy writing that one.
In 1998, Ewan McGregor was present on the Isle of Arran when whisky was being produced for the first time in 150 years. Whilst there, he was presented with his a hogshead sherry cask of his own. Now, he’s bottled 150 Arran 26-year single malts, which are being sold at auction to raise money for Children’s Hospices Across Scotland.
The Bottles are all unique, styled like a film script. The first twenty-four have been signed by the Jedi himself.
Ewan has been a long-standing supporter of CHAS. The charity provides support to children with life-limiting conditions and their families.
